There seems to have been a ton of changes since my last update. I am no longer using redslush.com for my blogging services. I am now using SirRobbieRob.com which I think fits better
Redslush.com will be used for all of the stuff I am trying to get off the ground.
I finally went out to Austin-Del Valle MX Park. That place is a lot more technical than CCCP, more so than I am capable of riding at this time. I did hit the tracks “Veteran” track and was clearing a jump or two.
I have been out to ADV twice. The first time was the Saturday that my mom flew into town. There were a great group of guys out there. They were real helpful with feedback and just overall nice people. The second time I went out there was last Wednesday for night practice. Holy shit! I don’t think I have been around some many assholes at one time. Most of them were kids that were barely 16. They were obviously rich spoiled kids and they had no problems letting everyone know it. I wish I could say all of them were crap riders but some of them had me in awe. Besides all the punks at the track Wednesday just turn out not to be a really good riding day. My riding didn’t get any better and I felt like I couldn’t get comfortable on the bike. I was hoping to practice by corner speeds but they say no improvements. Actually, I don’t think I can say there were any improvements from this day out.
On Friday I headed out to CCCP with Ian and Tye. Both of these guys just picked up new 4 strokes. Tye got a 2004? Yamaha YZ 250 and Ian bought a brand new 2006 YZ 250 Anniversary Edition. Pimp!
I could tell this was going to be a good day. After a day of having guys to ride with I can instantly tell my skills have improved in some form or another. I did a few warm up laps on the Beginner course. Once again I felt this weird uncomfortable feeling on the bike. Ignoring this I moved over to the night track (Day Track was closed as they were prepping for Saturday). As soon as I got onto the track I just starting riding faster than I should have been. I came into the fourth turn, which had been rutted out, and slowed almost down to a crawl. I could see the ground coming at slow motion. The front wheel had popped out of the rut and threw me all cock-eyed. The bike went one direction and I went the other. As soon as I hit the ground I heard a pop and thought I had broken my collarbone again. I did this nice tuck and roll then got to my feet. I shook it off and as far I could tell I didn’t break anything. Just some scraps, bruises, and sore chest. Shortly after my fall Tye hit the same spot. We ended up riding until about 8:00-8:30 and we were worn out. I definitely need to fine some more riding partners that can go more frequently. I noticed far more improvements on Friday than the past two months I have been riding by myself. So if anyone out there wants to go out riding on Wed, Fri, Sat, and Sundays and you are in the Austin area let me know.
Moving onto the bike. The 3 times I have taken it out and rode with it, it has been awesome. This past Friday I had a lot of oil pouring out of the exhaust. I am not exaggerating when I say pouring out. There is oil coming down from the exhaust pimp and all over the rear of the bike. Tye and I tried playing with the air/fuel but to no avail. After getting home and doing some reading I believe it may be a bad crank seal as it looks like I am going through some gearbox oil. Off to Zabor’s for a week or two. boo! I think I need another bike to cover me when the other is down
Some pictures for your enjoyment!
